While there are many foods that are associated with cancer prevention, it is important not to focus solely on them. They work better when synergized with exercise and overall healthy lifestyle choices. Survival rates for patients with cancer increases by 65% in people who eat a balanced diet.

It can lead to diabetes as well as possibly promoting tumor growth. Even more so than healthy cells, cancer cells thrive on blood sugar. Eating hot dogs, bacon, ham or salami and other ultra-processed foods are linked to increased risk. Another major source of contention is GMOs. Most people are aware of the risks of Genetically Modified Organisms, but there has been research that strives to prove that there is no issue. However, a study conducted by Gilles-Eric Seralini showed that some GMOs may be incredibly harmful and carcinogenic. In his laboratory, rats were fed a GMO diet and the effects were terrifying. The male rats died prematurely from kidney failure, and the female rats developed massive mammary tumors. The evidence shows that avoiding GMOs entirely would be best for everyone. Other foods that should be avoided are: microwave popcorn, diet drinks, refined white flours, and farmed fish, among others.
While it is especially important that we work to find a cure for this insidious disease, it is also true that we need to do our best to prevent it. The consensus is that healthy eating and exercise all promote better over all well-being. That means lowering the risk of not only cancer, but also other illnesses and diseases.
